kaigorodov:

i was asked yesterday to recommend a book.
w/o hesitation, the best one i picked up this year is Jay-Z-penned ‘Decoded’.
lower your eyebrows.  i mean it.
you like the man or his craft, or you dont, Decoded is a fascinating read into - ultimately - a universal story of a struggle.  Jay-Z masterfully uses his own lyrics to reconstruct the story of his life and times, values and convictions, people and events, music and creativity, ups and downs we can all connect to. expect little “money, cash, hoes”, and lots of inspirational and deep thoughts and storytelling from a great wordsmith.
i posted this quote back in February, and i saved a lot more.
leave your “rap music” bias aside (it’s just an art form);  in Jay-Z own words:
“I think for hip-hop to grow to its potential and stay relevant for another generation we have to keep pushing deeper and deeper into the biggest subjects and doing it with real honesty.
the truth is always relevant.”
